Manufactured stone goes on the wall over a traditional Tyvek Stucco Wrap or Class D Building Paper moisture barrier, 18 gauge keymesh or 2.5 diamond lath that is galvanized and self-furred, all necessary galvanized flashings and a 3/8” stucco scratch coat. Then the stone is 'buttered' and adhered and finished with a grout joint of the Owner's choice. Manufactured stone offers about 1/3 cost savings over a genuine, natural stone installation. Because manufactured stone is a veneer, a foundation is not required. Its longevity and advantages will mimic stucco – often exceeding your lifetime. A good stone installation will be hard to tell from the real thing. It requires minimal maintenance with powerwashing and minor cleaning every 4-5 years. And its advantages also mimic stucco – noise resistance, protection, weatherproof, termite proof, economical and fire resistant.
